Book Binding FAQs
Can I bring already-printed pages for binding only?
Yes — binding-only is one of our most-requested services. Businesses, authors, and organizations regularly bring us pre-printed documents for professional finishing. Drop off your interior pages at our Homewood location and we'll handle the rest. If you need a printed cover, we can produce that as well.
What is the minimum page count for perfect binding?
Perfect binding requires enough spine width for the adhesive to grip — typically 40 pages or more on standard 20 lb interior stock. Thinner documents are better suited for saddle stitch (staples) or spiral binding. We can advise on the best method for your page count when you bring it in or call.
How long does book binding take?
Spiral and Wire-O binding can often be completed the same day for small quantities. Perfect binding typically takes 1–2 business days. Case binding (hardcover) usually needs 3–5 business days. Rush turnaround is available on most formats — call us to confirm availability before you drop off.
What is the difference between Wire-O and spiral binding?
Both punch holes along the spine and thread a fastener through, letting the document lie flat. Wire-O uses a double-loop metal wire with a sharper, more professional appearance — common for business proposals and reports. Spiral uses a continuous plastic coil, available in many colors, and is slightly more flexible. Both allow the book to open fully flat at 180°.
Can you rebind or repair a damaged book?
In many cases, yes. We can rebind paperbacks that have lost their covers, re-glue case-bound books with failing spines, and spiral-bind loose or falling-apart documents. Bring it in for a free look — we'll be straight with you about whether it can be saved and what it will cost.
