What We Can Print Same-Day

Most jobs are same-day eligible when you have a print-ready file and call before the cutoff. Some formats require advance confirmation — notes below.

  • Flyers & BrochuresFile-ready only

Standard letter and half-letter flyers are among the fastest jobs we run. Submit a print-ready PDF by mid-morning and same-day pickup is typically available.

  • Business CardsFile-ready only

Standard 3.5×2" business cards on most stocks. Rush business cards require a print-ready file — we do not offer same-day design service for card orders.

  • Document & Copy PrintingWalk-in or file

Reports, presentations, legal documents, and manuscripts. Walk in with a USB or email your file and we can often run it while you wait or within the hour.

  • BannersConfirm availability first

Same-day vinyl banners are available on a limited basis depending on our current production queue. Call before submitting to confirm we can meet your deadline.

  • Booklets & ProgramsSaddle stitch, file-ready

Event programs and short-run saddle-stitch booklets. Same-day is possible for most quantities up to 250 copies — call ahead to confirm based on page count.

  • Binding JobsSpiral or coil, walk-in

Spiral and Wire-O binding can often be completed the same day for small quantities. Drop off your pre-printed pages and we handle the rest.

Why Online Printing Doesn’t Work When You Need It Today

Online print brokers offer “next-day shipping” on some products — but that means it leaves their plant tomorrow and arrives one to three days after, depending on your location. For an event tonight, a meeting tomorrow morning, or a presentation that just got moved up, that timeline doesn’t work.

At Rocky Heights in Homewood, you pick up your job in person. No transit window, no tracking number to watch, no hoping it doesn’t arrive damaged. When we say same-day, you’re walking out with it today.

The requirement: a print-ready file and a call before the production cutoff. We’re honest about capacity — if the queue is full, we tell you before you submit, not after.

How Rush Printing Works

  1. 1

    Call Us First

Call (205) 983-8040 before submitting your file. Tell us what you need, how many, and your deadline. We confirm same-day availability based on job type and the current production queue. If same-day isn't possible, we'll give you an honest next-day time.

  2. 2

    Submit a Print-Ready File

Email your print-ready PDF or bring it on a USB drive. Flattened PDF with embedded fonts, CMYK color, 0.125" bleed where applicable. We do a quick preflight on rush jobs — if something is critically wrong we call you immediately rather than running a bad file.

  3. 3

    Pick Up the Same Day

We'll call when your job is ready. Local pickup at our Homewood location. Most same-day jobs are ready within 2–4 hours of file approval depending on run size and finishing. Rush fees apply for jobs that move ahead of the scheduled production queue.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cutoff time for same-day printing?
Our general cutoff for same-day production is 11:00 AM for most print jobs — but this depends on our production queue and the job type. Call us first: (205) 983-8040. If you're close to the cutoff or have a larger run, we'll tell you honestly whether same-day is feasible or if next-day is the more reliable option.
Does my file need to be print-ready for same-day service?
Yes — same-day printing requires a print-ready file. Your file should be a flattened PDF with embedded fonts, 0.125" bleed for full-bleed designs, and CMYK color mode. If your file needs design work, we can sometimes turn around a simple layout same-day for an additional fee — call to discuss availability before assuming it's possible.
What file formats do you accept for rush jobs?
Print-ready PDF is strongly preferred. We also accept Adobe Illustrator (AI), InDesign packaged files, and high-resolution JPG or PNG in a pinch. Microsoft Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint are accepted for document printing but may need formatting adjustments — these are not considered print-ready and may affect same-day eligibility.
Can I walk in without a file and get something printed today?
For document and copy printing, yes — walk in with a USB drive or we can pull your file from email. For designed pieces like business cards, flyers, and banners, we need a print-ready file. If you have content but no designed file, our design team can sometimes produce a simple layout same-day for a fee — call ahead to check.
Do you charge extra for rush turnaround?
A rush fee applies to same-day and next-day jobs that move ahead of scheduled work in the production queue. The fee varies by job size and complexity. Tell us your deadline upfront when you call or submit a quote request and we'll include it in the estimate — no surprise charges after the fact.
