Why Print Here Instead of Staples or FedEx?
Chain copy centers have self-service kiosks and walk-in counters. Here’s what you get at a local shop that you don’t get at a big-box chain.
No self-service kiosk to fight with
At Staples or FedEx, you're managing the machine. At Rocky Heights, you hand us the file — or the USB — and we handle the rest. No paper jams, no error messages, no reprinting because the tray ran out.
A human reviews your file
We check every document for formatting issues before it goes to press. If your margins are off, your fonts didn't embed, or the page count is wrong, we catch it now. Self-service kiosks don't do that.
Finishing in the same visit
Staple, coil bind, hole-punch, or insert tab dividers — all in one stop. No printing at one place and driving to another for binding.
Confidential jobs handled properly
Legal documents, personnel files, medical records, and financial statements. We treat confidential jobs with discretion and don't leave your documents sitting on a self-service tray for the next customer to see.
How Document Printing Works
- 1
Walk In or Submit Your File
Walk in with your file on a USB drive or email it to us before you arrive. We accept PDF, Word, PowerPoint, and most common formats. If you have a physical original you need copied, bring it — we'll handle the scanning and reproduction.
- 2
We Review and Print
We open your file, confirm page count, orientation, and formatting before printing. If something looks off — a margin issue, a font substitution, a page out of order — we'll catch it before it goes to press. Most document jobs are printed while you wait or within the hour.
- 3
Collate, Bind, and Pick Up
Multi-copy jobs are collated in order. Binding options include staple, coil, spiral, perfect bind, or three-hole punch. Tab dividers, card-stock covers, and laminated covers are available. Pick up at our Homewood location or arrange delivery for large runs.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I walk in and get a document printed without calling ahead?
- Yes — walk-in document printing is one of our most common requests. Bring your file on a USB drive, have it ready to email, or hand us a physical original to copy. For simple copy and print jobs, we can often run it while you wait. For larger documents (100+ pages, multiple copies, or binding), calling ahead ensures we can turn it around in one visit.
- What file formats do you accept for document printing?
- PDF is preferred for most document printing — it preserves your formatting, fonts, and margins exactly as designed. We also accept Microsoft Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx), and Excel (.xlsx). If you're sending a Word or PowerPoint file, be aware that fonts and formatting may shift if we don't have your exact fonts installed. For anything where layout precision matters — a legal brief, a bound proposal, a thesis — send a PDF.
- Do you offer double-sided printing?
- Yes — duplex (double-sided) printing is standard on all our document printers and is the default for most multi-page documents. Specify single-sided if that's what you need. Double-sided reduces paper cost and produces a cleaner finished document for binding.
- Can you print and bind a document at the same time?
- Yes — print and bind in a single visit is one of the most common document jobs we handle. Tell us your page count, binding preference (coil, spiral, perfect, or saddle stitch), and cover requirement when you drop off or submit your file. We'll produce it print-ready and bound, ready for pickup.
- How do you handle confidential documents?
- Confidential documents — legal briefs, personnel records, financial statements, medical summaries — are handled with discretion. We don't leave print jobs unattended at a public output tray and we don't retain digital copies of your files after the job is complete. If you have specific handling requirements, mention them when you drop off or submit.
