Getting Your File Ready for Large-Format Print
The most common problem we see with large-format files: a design built at 300 DPI at the full 24x36" size. The file is technically correct but enormous — and unnecessary. Large-format prints are viewed from a distance. 100-150 DPI at actual print size produces visually sharp results at standard viewing distances of 3-15 feet.
The other common issue: low-resolution logos and images that were fine on screen or at flyer size but fall apart at 24 inches wide. Always supply logos as vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF). If you only have a PNG or JPG of your logo, let us know when you submit — we’ll tell you if it’s usable at your target size.
Submit as a flattened PDF at actual print dimensions with all fonts embedded. Include 0.25" bleed if the design runs edge to edge. For mounted prints with wrapped edges, add extra bleed equal to the board thickness on each side.

Submit Your File at Print Resolution
Submit a flattened PDF at actual print size, 100–150 DPI, CMYK, with 0.25" bleed. We review every file for resolution, color setup, and bleed coverage before printing. If a low-resolution element will be visible at the finished size, we flag it before the run.

Print, Mount, and Pick Up
Your poster or print is output on the target substrate, laminated (if specified), and mounted or stretched as ordered. Edges are trimmed clean or wrapped depending on the format. Most poster and mounted display jobs are ready in 1–3 business days. Local pickup in Homewood; shipping and crating available for larger pieces.

- What is the maximum print size you offer?
- Our large-format equipment prints up to 60" wide at any length. For most posters and mounted displays, common widths are 24", 36", and 48". Custom wallpaper and full-wall murals can be printed in tiled panels and seamed on-site for walls wider than 60". If your project requires a specific dimension, contact us before designing your file — we'll confirm the maximum printable area and any panel seam requirements.
- What file resolution do I need for a 24×36" poster?
- Design your file at 100–150 DPI at the actual print size (24×36"). A 150 DPI file at 24×36" is 3,600×5,400 pixels — large enough for excellent quality at typical viewing distances of 3–10 feet. For close-inspection pieces like art prints, 200 DPI gives sharper fine detail. Vector artwork (logos, text, illustrations) should be provided in vector format — SVG, AI, EPS, or PDF — so it renders at any size without pixelation.
- Can you print directly to foam board or gator board?
- We mount prints to foam board and gator board using a dry-mount press for a bubble-free, flat bond. We can also laminate the surface (gloss, matte, or satin) before mounting for added durability and UV protection. Direct-to-substrate UV printing on rigid boards is available for select applications — ask when you request your quote.
- What's the difference between a large-format poster print and a vinyl banner?
- Poster prints are produced on paper or photo media — gloss, matte, or satin coated stock — intended for indoor display. They look sharp and professional but are not weather-resistant. Vinyl banners are printed on a flexible PVC substrate designed for outdoor durability, with UV-resistant inks that hold color in direct sun. If your display is outdoors or in a high-humidity environment, a vinyl banner or a laminated substrate is the right choice. For indoor retail, gallery, or lobby use, photo paper or mounted prints are more appropriate.
- How do I prepare a file for large-format printing?
- Set up your document at the actual print dimensions (not a scaled-down version). Use 100–150 DPI for photos and raster elements. Set color mode to CMYK for most print applications. Include 0.125"–0.25" bleed on all sides if the design has elements that run to the edge. Submit as a flattened PDF with embedded fonts and linked images at full resolution. For mounted prints where the image wraps over the edge of the board, add extra bleed to account for the wrap depth.
